My father was already in the military since the early ’60s before major US involvement in Vietnam started. And my uncles all joined because they knew they would be drafted and wanted to pick their MOS. To this day, my 80-year-old dad says he holds absolutely no ill feelings toward anyone who didn’t want to go. They all agree that war is no place for people. Who don’t want to be there and that some wars are not worth fighting.
