Having moments of humor doesn’t make a We Are Never Too Old For Halloween Shirt movie a comedy. After the obnoxiously serious 80’s sequels and the vile Rob Zombie movies, it was nice to have a film with fun and human characters. Ah yes, because as we know, the 80s horror boom was rife with cinematic slow-burn atmospheric films, and the late 2010s have been a parade of cult-classic B-movie slashers with high body counts. It’s possible you’re getting downvotes because that cynical view of “today’s audience” includes the actual people on. That’s not what I’m saying, those are definitely important, but I don’t think its the main focus for most people.

That said, I agree with you that the We Are Never Too Old For Halloween Shirt news doesn’t, by itself, make me want to watch it—and does make me worried a little that it will jump the shark. I’m not worried so much about the mere presence of the body count so much as the implication that the body count is the ENTIRE appeal, since, like you, I watch horror for a lot of reasons that are often negated by a large body count. Put another way, I liked the reboot a lot, and this news makes me feel like I won’t gel with the filmmakers’ vision as much on the sequel.
